Inspiration

I am inspired by a host of things. I can often muster positive energy on even some of the darkest days because I feel that half the battle is attitude. Finding sources of inspiration is so vital in order to cope with a chronic and often difficult condition such as MS.

Music is one of my main inspirational endeavors. I've been a fan since I was a little kid listening to the Bee Gees and KC and the Sunshine Band in the 1970's. Since then I've drawn strength from a variety of music styles including jazz, big band, classic rock, R & B, reggae, rap, grunge, and contemporary.

The acts of reading and writing also provide uplifting outlets. I was an English major in school and I've always immersed myself in works of classic fiction, nonfiction, plays, essays, poetry and so on as ways to escape and imagine. Writing is my own way to express myself and possibly inspire others.

My own spirituality also keeps me in constant awe. I find the divine in everyday matter: people, animals, and nature. I know others--- both loved ones and strangers---- who have embodied the angels right here on earth. The pure and unconditional love of pets makes life's challenges bearable. And the beauty of the ever-growing and ever-changing environment around us blows my mind. For me, inspiration is not above the clouds. It's right here in this living, breathing miracle we call life.
