I'm Rick ... late 40s, diagnosed when I was 34 and living with RRMS. Dontcha just love the labels? Primary Progressive, relapsing remitting, we all clammer to fit into one category or another. As if we will now be defined by some MS label. Part of me resists it, and yet there's a part of me that feels like I am more than just a number when I am told of my "status".

It reminds me of the misdiagnosis so many years ago. When the neuro finally confirmed I had MS, I felt a sense of inclusion. Like I belonged. Like I got an invitation to a party I didn't really want to go to. But once you know what you're dealing with, it becomes so much easier (I use that term loosely) to navigate the choppy waters.

I hope you'll return to my blog from time to time. I think I bring a unique perspective to this diease, not to mention a modicum of humor. One of life's great coping mechanisms! Cheers from NYC.

My name is Rick

Diagnosed in 1994
